3D shapes (Area & Perimeter)

Our class created these 3D shapes that contains 20 cubes.
Mr Ford asked us to find out how much paper we would need to wrap up the cubes.

Volume = 20 cm cubed
2 wide x 5 long x 2 high= 20

Area   
2x5=10 for each side.
2x2=4 for each end.
So the total area = 48 cm squares

Mathletics poster

Last week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday our class has been doing some mathletics posters on our own design. First we practiced doing some designs that were already made, and then we started on making our design. I hope you enjoy reading my reflection. :)

Mathletics 2013 reflection by Tyrone

Something I was pleased with was  my mathletics poster because it looks cool with the black and white squares, it also looks cool with the 3D stars in the eyes.

I really enjoyed learning how to make a Mathletics poster because it was fun and I got to create something like and then make my own design.

Something I found hard was figuring out what kind of design I could create.

Something that made me think was working out what kind of design I should make.

Today room 16 has been working on there maths and doing stage 5 and 6. We were doing 1 to 25 and what we got out of 25 times by 4. Then when we found the answer to something times 4 and that was the percentage.

3D Shapes

Here is my 3D Shape called a Hexagonal Prism, it has 8 faces , 18 edges  and 12 vertices (corners).Here is the formula, For example (Faces+Corners- 2=edges)

Camp Awsome

Camp Fun rules:

Inside & Outside rules

1. Never play video games at night

2. Do not drink from the toxic spill by the Airport

3. You can’t kill other people in the camp with the

C4 Jets

4. Do not play activities without Tyrone's permission!

5. Plane drives cost $200 to get to another Island

or Camp

6. Never go onto the other side of the swimming pool without Parents permission because one side of the pool is really deep

9. Lollies are not allowed, if you bring lollies you have to give them to Tyrone.

Find Mr Moriarty!

Follow the steps to find Mr- Moriarty

This is an urgent mission soldier because Mr Moriarty is in DANGER, and only you can save him.

You have 5 minutes to save him!!!!!!  

1. Start from Fishing Spot on 1B

2. Go North , 6 squares on 6B

3. Turn West and walk 3 squares on 7E

4. Go to the Swimming Pool to get the keys in 8F    

5. Go South West 2 squares and you will land on 5H

6.  Enter  the base by using the keys

7. Go down the Ladder and go 2 squares East and stop on 4H

8. You found him, now destroy the robots with a paintball gun

Well done soldier, you have completed your mission and saved Mr Moriarty!!!
