Camp Reflection

Here is my Camp reflection of Camp Kaitawa. the photos I put up are my favorite. Hope you like it.

Reflection for Camp


My goal for camp was to complete all the activities in the Amazing Race and have much fun as I can!


I achieved this because my group came second and I did have fun during the 5 days.


Something I was pleased with was how everyone did their best in the confidence course,
                            
because some of the things were a bit hard for the adults and children but I was most pleased with myself because I did the flip on the 5th or 6th  course of the Confidence Course.
I really enjoyed learning  how to Kayak backwards even though I’ve done it before, and I learnt how to cave.
                  
Because I have never done caving before in my entire life and it’s been really fun just trying my best.
Something I found hard was caving up the steep cave was difficult for me.
Something that made me think was the amazing race,
because it was difficult to try and solve the questions.

Camp Kaitawa (Kayaking)

Here is my moment in time story, kayaking was really fun! It looked really exciting and it was! Have fun reading it.

Kayaking


Splash,Splash,Splash, goes the paddles in and out of the water. “Run away from David, I mean paddle away from David” I said. We were paddling away from David (Teva’s dad) because he was in (for Tag). Bump, went the Kayak against Josh's kayak and he got stuck in 1/2 a rectangular prism in the water. He couldn't get out until he finally got out and paddled again.“Paddle slower because you’re getting me wet” said Cam, “My butts wet!” I groan. “Lets paddle over there, not there your paddling us to shore” said Cameron. “Oh man!...”  Cam looks at me “ You have to paddle us away from shore now because you paddled us over here in the first place” said Cam. “ OK, OK, OK” I said, all of a sudden a loud pitch of the whistle blows “Come on in now,other people want to have a turn so paddle back.” Cam and I were staying where we were and then the whistle blew again so we had to go back to shore, “My butt’s sooo wet from kayaking” I moan. 10 minutes later.......   “Yeahhh!” I said, I’m kayaking again but with Elijah this time!” “Left, right, left, right, left, right go right now, no no no!” said Elijah “lets go over there were Dylan and Marcus or Inderpreet. “I going to sleep OK Elijah” I said “OK”......  30 Seconds later....  Suddenly I heard a high pitch noise “Huh, what, where!” I thought I heard Elijah scream like a girl but it was the whistle! “Time to come back into shore people” Mr M said. Whizz went my feet when I slipped on the Kayak. Some of us carry the Kayaks back. We leave for Camp. “That was fun!!!!” I said to Dylan, “Next year will be fun also.”

Kereru art

Camp Kaitawa (Onopoto caves)

Here is my Onopoto caves moment in time story (but not recount). I had fun there and it was also dangerous, but fun! Hope you enjoy reading it!

Caving

“Wow it’s dark in here” I said. It’s dark and wet and the entrance out is muddy. We walked through one cave and still had to go through more caves, after 2 hours we stopped at a great place to sit down. Then we called our numbers “1,2,3,4.......” all the way to 28. After 3 caves we had to go down a ladder and climb up onto the other side. Whoosh! Went Jessica’s foot, “Watch where you're stepping Jessica because you almost hit me in the face.” “ Sorry” said Jessica. “Arrrghhh!” said Jessica  “Ha, ha, ha, ha!” replied Ellis. I thought I wasn't going to make it and then I did after 10 minutes! The class was way ahead of me, only some of them. It was raining and we stopped to have a break. After 5,4,6 or 3 caves we got to the vehicles and our driver drove us back home.

Camp Kaitawa (Touching the Kiwi)

Touching the Kiwi

Day one

Vroom, Vroom! The car goes. Everyone was already at the Pan Pac Kiwi Creche. “Oh man” I said to myself. We all walked to the front of the Kiwi Creche gate, it was big and nothing could get in except for birds of prey and mice. Cherry (the Kiwi caretaker) was calmly, carrying a box. “I bet a kiwi’s in that box”. Snap! The kiwi was angry because it was awoken from its sleep like getting woken at 2:30am in the morning. Snap! Again it was angry, when it did snap it made me blink. Its fur felt soft and spiky. It feels amazing touching the kiwi on the back, I feel incredibly lucky! I've never felt a kiwi before, it was my first time. After that we were heading back to the car, Nikkitah.H goes to the toilets. The next thing I know, a bunch of kids are going to the toilet! I think 18 or 23 kids running for their life! We all walked to our vehicles and drove to Camp Kaitawa.

Instructions on How to survive on the bush

Here is my Instructions on how to survive in the bush and the safety code is Plan your trip, Tell someone, Be aware of the weather, Know your limits and Take sufficient supplies.


Instructions on How to be safe on the bush

The New Zealand bush is a great place to explore. To have fun you also have to be aware of dangers. Here are my instructions to have fun and be safe.

Step 1. Planning your Trip
Tell to yourself, have I got the right gear? Do I know where I’m going, have I checked how the weather is going be? Do I know how long it will take to get to the location, have I packed a shelter or tent for incase if it does rain? Have I got permission to be on that land, but remember, a good camp is a fun camp!

Step 2.Tell someone
Your safety is your responsibility so tell someone (a person that you trust) your plans for the trip and put a date for when to raise the alarm if someone from your group hasn't
returned  


Step 3.Be aware of the weather
New Zealand's weather can be hard to notice if you haven’t checked the forecast, so check it and believe that the weather will change. Build a shelter near if you think the weather is going turn bad

Step 4.Know your limit
Make sure you know how far you're going to walk, bike or run because if you run, bike or walk too far you’ll end up breathless. Ask your group if there up to this level or if they have any medical conditions.

Step 5.Take sufficient supplies
If you don’t take sufficient supplies things can go to amazing to worst. Pack an aid packet for in case if someone gets injured or has a bad cold.

Reflection script



Tyrone: What was your favorite thing you did this term Zach?
Zach: My favorite thing I did this term Tyrone was drawing the legend of Te Mata because first we had to draw the legend and then coloring  it in then dying the background.

Zach: What was your favorite thing you did this term Tyrone?
Tyrone: My favourite thing I did this term was creating my map because I got to make heaps of different places on the map and find a place for Mr Moriarty to hide.

Tyrone: What have you been doing this term at school with room 16 Zach?

Zach: We have been making a mural for the people who died on ANZAC day, we made a challenge tree, coat of arms shield and we had a swimming sports day and other stuff.

Zach: Tyrone,  do you think that the whole class did a good job on their face art?

Tyrone: Yes but I don’t think that they did a good job, I think they did a fantastic job!

Tyrone: What do you think of me , Zach?

Zach: I think that Tyrone is a great drawer & he’s very nice to people &  he’s a fantastic friend of mine.

Zach: What do you think of me, Tyrone?

Tyrone:Well I think that you are a good friend and you play with me at morning tea time & lunch.

Zach: We are definitely looking forward to next term a Tyrone.
Tyrone: We sure are!
