Optimist Yachting

Here is my Optimist Yachting and kayaking reflection of day 1 and I also created a Go Animate video, I had fun riding the yacht and kayaking. Please comment. :)

Reflection for Yachting/Kayaking: Day 1

Something I was pleased with was how people didn’t sink their boats because if they did it would cost maybe $100.                       

I really enjoyed learning how to capsize and steer the boat while someone moves the main sheet. I really enjoyed steering the yacht because it was fun and amazing, I really liked capsizing because it was scary and cool.

Something I found hard was controlling the main sheet because I would have to loosen or tighten the rope so we wouldn't crash into the people who were kayaking.

Something that made me think was watching were the sail/main sheet was heading because it would hit my head and I did not want to end up unconscious.

Something I want to get better at is controlling the sail. (What can I do about it?) Maybe when I need to go fast tighten the rope and when I need to slow down loosen the rope?

Super hero story #1

Here is my story about Master Tyrone how he turns into his super hero and tries to take his home back from the Dark side, hope you like it! Please comment. :)

Master Tyrone PART 1:In the beginning

In the town called Hastings, a boy named Tyrone was playing on the Wii Nintendo. When suddenly I felt a big breeze and didn't know where it was coming from because nothing could make a big cold wind on a sunny day, then I saw an alien warship hiding under an invisible cloak on the big field. I ran to the ship and Darth Vader was in it with some super battle droids. He saw me and captured me, bringing on board on his intergalactic warship. He knocked me out so I couldn't find my way back to planet earth, while I was knocked out I was dreaming of something weird like Master Yoda saying “use the force young padawan.” He brings me to this place called the Death Star, a medical robot was sitting on a chair and pulled out a laser gun and was going to cut me into pieces. I quickly kicked the robot, but some chemicals fell on me. BOOM! I turned into a Jedi, well maybe a padawan but I could use the force, I stole a light saber and chose green but the medic robot got up and called backup. I destroyed the medic and ran for a ship, heaps of storm troopers were on my tail. I hopped into a X1 - fighter and shot a pile of droids. I flew back to earth and tried to figure out how to get back to normal, “Aha,” I make a ‘T’ out of my body and boom I’m back to normal. “Finally, I am back to young self.

‘Meanwhile on the Death Star.....’

“How did he get away!” said Darth Vader, the battle droid commander says “He got a chemical tipped on him when he kicked the medic sir.” “Well, find him and make sure he doesn't ruin my plan because if there is a hero than he’ll make it hard to destroy planet earth!” says Darth Vader. The droid replies, “Why don’t we destroy his home and then his home’s home (NZ), and then destroy the home’s, home’s home” (which is the earth).“Then he’ll have nothing to fight for, muay, ha, ha, ha haaaaa!” says Darth Vader while laughing. “Get the storm troopers and the droids, quickly,” “But which droids” said the battle droid commander?” “All of them, the super battle droids, the battle droids, the vulture droids, the droidekas, the tank droids and the battle droid commanders (battle droids, more experienced.) They all flew down in a galactic ship down to earth, they landed on the road next to ‘Parkvale Motors’.

“Where is this so called Master Tyrone,” said the battle droid, “In Hastings” replied the battle droid commander. They searched every and sent battle droids to look in parkvale school, they sent droidekas to help the battle droids and some of them went to look down streets. Vulture droids were in the sky and on the ground, the whole place was nearly secure. The tank droids were exploding stuff like the BP station and the road and the storm troopers were walking around peoples property. “Oh no,” I said to myself, “I should be out there fighting all those droids.” Then suddenly an idea popped in my head, I should go to the school but I would need a costume and I might need Dylan (AKA, Captain D. Two storm trooper were walking by and I had an idea. I made a T with my body and turned into Master Tyrone, I told Dylan the plan and he agreed. Dylan turned into Captain D and I turned into Master Tyrone by making a T. We knocked out 1 storm trooper each and put the uniform on. The storm troopers were wearing black undies with the Death Star on them. Captain D and I were walking by the school when suddenly battle droids, commanders,  tank droids and droidekas were waiting outside the classroom known as room 16. I was walking in when a battle droid said “Don’t walk in because you’ll get fired at,” “don’t worry I have a um, button on my walkie-talkie that activates a bubble” I said. Captain D and I walked in when suddenly Assassin zach through a sword and then all the kids in room 16 used all their weapons like lasers, a bomb, the force, cannons, super strength and lightning.

Today room 16 has been working on there maths and doing stage 5 and 6. We were doing 1 to 25 and what we got out of 25 times by 4. Then when we found the answer to something times 4 and that was the percentage.

Letter to Ken Catran

Today room 16 have been writing letters to the author of Dead Harry. Dead Harry is a pretty cool and awesome story that could inspire you, your teacher or even family to read more of the book. There's a site that has all the books that Ken Catran (author of Dead Harry) wrote and designed. I hope you like the video and my writing.

Dear Ken Catran,

I love your book about how Harry died and Sam being in a lot of trouble. Sam being in trouble reminded me of my brother and I being in trouble because we fight a lot. Your story is really, really interesting and I felt really amazed and it got me thinking, what would happen next? Can we read it more?

My favourite characters in Dead Harry were Harry and Elias Milton. I like them because Mr Milton (Elias Milton), could do tricks that were freaky and cool. I chose Harry as one of my favourite characters because he’s hilarious, funny and has got heaps of humour. Harry’s like my cousin Nate (short for Nathaniel), he’s really funny like him.

My favourite parts was when Harry showed up at the graveyard of his funeral, it was pretty cool and how Elias Milton transformed into a skeleton and did some other stuff to freak out the security  guard. My third favourite part was when Harry told Sam that his password was “Stinky Sam 2“, so hilarious!

Thank you for making the book, it was so cool and amazing you know.  I liked it very much. I can connect to that because I like Mr Moriarty reading us Paul Jennings books.

The Minuscule Dragon

Here is my dragon story about a dragon and I put compound sentences, complex and simple sentences. This story has WALT or WALA sentences in it and they are compound, complex and simple sentences. I hope you have a great time reading my story of The Minuscule Dragon.

         The Minuscule Dragon

The minuscule dragon flew into the room from the window and layed on my fingers.He small dragon set flight from the tips of my fingers. He bursts out lava like fire that goes right through a tree! The dragon lights up with fire, I think his name must be Torch. All of a sudden Torch turned red and stayed that way. I looked up “what do tiny dragons eat” and the computer had some links to look at. I clicked onto ‘WIKIPEDIA’ (or Wiki) and it came up with heaps of things. It came up with meat, fish, vegetables, fruit and people!! I gave Torch some of my uncles hand that died last year. Torch didn’t like the hand, I was lucky that he didn't like the hand. I asked mum if I could have some meat, she asked me why.I told her it was for a project for my blog. Mum left and I gave Torch the 50 centimeter meat. Torch ate it in 10 seconds, he must have been hungry. I walked down to stairs to get more food. When I got back upstairs Torch was 2x bigger!! I gave him some more meat and he grew 4x bigger. Then he changed color again but is wasn’t his body it was his wings! The red wings turned Dark but he wasn’t turning evil or something.He flew out of the room leaving a hole in the wall and a 1 metre plop of poo on the road. Torch blue green toxic fire going through buildings and making hole through the concrete wall. The city was in a gigantic mess, Torch flew back to the house. When Torch got closer I saw a huge angry mom of people who had their town destroyed. I jumped on Torches back and he flew into the past to his family. There were different kinds of dragons, blue and orange dragons too. There was another dragon and he was all black. He looked kinda evil but he was just Torch’s dad making copies of himself. The weirdest dragon I ever saw was a Cockatrice. I also saw an army of people on horses.

The army had a catapult with a burning rock aiming at one of the dragons. The dragon quickly covered his scaly body with his wing that made the rock rebound back to the catapult. The soldiers retreated and I left for home. I said goodbye to Torch and he gave me a slight burn on the palm of my hand. “Ouch” I said. There was a picture of a dragon skull on it. “Woah” I said as Torch was flying away.

Geo Guess

Yesterday in class, we all went onto a site called GeoGuessr. So at the start it would show you a picture, any kind of picture of a place somewhere in the world and you click somewhere were you guessed it might be. When I started I got 1,983 points and the lowest pints I got was 13, the highest points was 7,427. To get the highest points you have to be close to the location or right on it, but sometimes you would get low points if your further away. Here are some pictures of GeoGuess.

Twin battle of cuteness!!

Here is a video of me and Dylan fighting on the bed, I don't know why but it looks pretty cute. By the way, the baby with rough hair and angry face is Dylan and the baby that's laughing is me (Tyrone). Also my sister (Faith) is videoing the video. I won the battle also! On a wondrous and muddy Saturday I went to Waipukurau and our Coach said that we had to save our energy.

I was about 7 years old when this happened. We played about 7 teams and lost 3 games I think?

Some of the games were tough and 2 teams were little. We all had mud all over us after the first game.

Tyreese dived and had great tackles around the legs. We all had a great time and when we were facing this big team taller than us, I tackled 2 people and one of them were taller than me and the other was about 7 centimeters taller.

He cried for a little and had to toughen up.I got a sausage in a bread and it costed $1.50, it smelt really good and there sodas, cookie times.

We all went to face the kids that were bigger than all my team and even Rashaan.

He wanted to help us and he did, a tiny bit. Otane (which is our team) had to face them again!!!!

We lost against them 2 times and we also lost against the other team but at least we all tried our best and had fun.

I don’t really know all the teams names because that was in 21/9/11.

                                                                                                                             

When it was Otane's 5TH game we all jogged out onto the field, I always stayed behind in all the games and waited for Tyreese to kick the ball and we all chased it.

Tyreese, Ollie, Dylan, Gabriel, Rashaan, Grant, Zachary, Jonty And I really did some great teamwork.

The Amazing NZ wood pigeon

The NZ wood pigeon (Kereru in te reo Maori) are spectacular creatures. You might think they just fly around and eat food from our national trees but no, there’s more to Kereru than just that! Kereru  fly up to 50 km in search for food. Kereru are special to our national trees and you’ll see why in the facts soon on Life cycle. Kereru can live up to 20 years and some people think it’s alright to eat them! Read this report to find out more about this amazing bird that flies in the air.

Description:

Red beak. Red, white,blue and green feathers. Claws are red and it’s eyes are reddish. Also it looks like a pigeon (It is a pigeon, New Zealand wood pigeon). The biggest pigeon (also bird) in the entire WORLD!!!!

Habitat:

It lives in New Zealand and where they live are Kaitawa, NZ forests, parks, gardens and the forests of Northland. Kowhai tree, Tawa, Tariri, Karaka, Kohekohe, Nikau, Miro, Pigeonwood, Titoki, Supplejack, Kahikatea,  and Puriri trees. Mainly all kereru live in forests.

What they eat:

Kereru eat leaves, flowers, berries, and fruit of all the many, native and introduced trees New Zealand. Oh and also they eat some of the food off Shrubs. Their favourite food is small fruit, shoots, leaves (already said) and buds.

Threats:

People that try to eat them for their feathers and meat. Windows are also their threat, THEY’RE EVERYWHERE!!!! Windows are threats to kereru because they get killed or injured when flying into them! Possums are a threat to Kereru too, they eat baby kereru and eggs when they haven't even got a chance to be an adult!! .Cars are one of the other threats when people don’t watch where they’re going!! The biggest, threat, ever, is.........

PEOPLE DESTROYING THEIR HABITAT!!! What I mean is that some people are cutting down NZ’s trees and without trees, there’ll be nowhere for the Kereru to live. The loss of their habitat (home) has been from  Kereru falling off trees with food when getting cut down by chainsaws.

Bird Types in NZ:

Tui, Riroriro, Kakariki, bellbird, NZ falcon, Blue duck, Kiwi, Kakapo, Morepork, Kokaka and Long-tailed Cuckoo are all endemic. Theres more so if you want to see more types of birds in NZ like the Kaka ( or the others you can look here at Native birds of the NZ forests.

Actions:

Kereru can fly up to 50km in search for food.  

Life cycle:

Female Kereru has one egg per nest. Kereru eat seeds, spreading them by POO helping our native and introduced trees.The mother and father kereru take turns at sitting on the egg for 30 days!!! Kereru eat between 60 to 70 native tree food varieties. After the baby kereru receiving so much love and care, many kereru eggs and chicks do not live because of the possums and other animals. Possums and rats, occasionally stoats and cats who invade, attack, inroad and foray nests, killing them!!! Young Kereru are lucky enough to survive and are already leaving the nest after six weeks has past. Kereru can live up to 20 years, that's not so long.

Did you know?:

Did you know that Kereru are the largest pigeons in the entire world!! Did you know that Kereru are 650g and 51cms long. Did you know that Kereru are birds of the lowland forests, and forest margins. Did you know they make a slightly “coo” noise, you are most likely to see a Kereru because of it’s “whooshing” sound their wings make when flying. Kereru are our the only surviving bird since the moa with it’s beak that can open wide enough to to gulp down native fruits more than 12 millimetres in diameter, such as the Tawa tree, taraire and karaka tree.

Book character costume

Here is my Tintin costume of The adventures of Tintin the book. I had fun making my costume but I didn't really make, I just got things at the store and yeah. I had to use hair spray to make my hair orange, my normal hair color is black, brown or blackish and brownish. My brother dressed up Captain Haddock from  The adventures of Tintin. By the way, Dylan's Haddock (short for Captain Haddock) and I am Tintin. Here are the images.
